Lee Sandler has served as General Counsel to ITSA, — and its predecessor The American Surety Association (TASA) Customs Committee —  since 1984. He also served as ITSA Interim President in 2015.  

He has practiced international trade and customs law since 1969, first as a US Department of Justice Trial Attorney in the Civil Division Customs Section. He founded the customs and international trade law firm — Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, PA — in 1977 and it’s related trade advisory consulting firm (Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services) in 1989.  ST&R today is a leading trade law firm with over 80 professionals focused on international trade regulation law; STTAS grew to over 900 trade specialists and was acquired by UPS in 2017. He has personally represented corporate clients on a broad range of customs, tariff and federal regulatory agency issues governing import and export activity. Over the years he has served on many government advisory committees including those on Customs operations (COAC), Customs modernization (TSN), international trade negotiations affecting customs valuation and procedures (IFAC), Customs/Surety relations (CSC) and rules of the Court of International Trade (CIT). He has held the highest Martindale Hubbell ranking of lawyers (AV Pre-eminent) for over 40 years.   He is a member of the Bars in New York and Florida, a licensed Customhouse broker and a graduate of Dartmouth College and NYU School of Law.
